Homeowners Donna Allen and Ken DoBeautiful-Humboldt-Redwood-Deck-in-Martinez-CAthée are as passionate about backyard entertaining as they are about their beloved St. Mary’s Gaels college basketball team and the sport of Bocce. Martinez happens to be home of the largest Bocce tournament in North America, and Ken is a founder of the Martinez Bocce Federation (MBF) and one of the tournament’s most active and outgoing supporters.

No surprise then that when it came time to build a backyard deck to support their busy social calendar, they chose award-winning deck builder Christopher Stewart and Humboldt Redwood.

The choice of natural materials was important to Donna, who wanted a deck that would blend into their beautifully landscaped backyard. The expansive, multi-tiered deck takes advantage of the sloping hillside lot high above the Carquinez Strait and the Martinez Regional Shoreline.

Ken wanted to make sure the deck would accommodate large gatherings—up to 75 people—especially important during the annual MBF Tournament season and NCAA March Madness, provided the Gaels are part of the action!
